FOR TASA
We are entering the second century of our existence in style. The start of a magnificent season calls for a no less magnificent Gustav Mahler, and we open our celebratory season with the Symphony No. 3. The longest symphony in the standard concert repertoire, it was voted one of the ten best symphonies of all time in the BBC’s Music Magazine survey conducted among conductors. The BPO chief conductor Gabriel Feltz, an established expert on Mahler’s opus, will lead the orchestra through six movements of this monumental piece, with the support of mezzo-soprano Victoria Massey, the female choir Collegium Musicum and the children’s choir Kolibri. The opening concert of the jubilee season is dedicated, always and forever, to our beloved Ivan Tasovac.
